Magna Road and Queen Anne Drive Resurfacing Scheme

In August 2017, the Department for Transport awarded us approximately £2.9M Challenge Fund for highways structural maintenance schemes to be carried out to some of our major roads. A key requirement was for this money to be spent by the end of March 2018. The Challenge Fund has enabled us to undertake far more work than we would otherwise be able to do.

The A341, including both Magna Road and Queen Anne Drive was identified along with a number of other locations where a structural maintenance scheme was required especially because of the condition and age of the existing surface and with regards to forthcoming building development in the area.

The scheme will consist of resurfacing the carriageway and the provision of new cycling facilities carried out in 2 separate phases.

Phase 1

Resurfacing works carried out during January 2018 over a period of 10 days.

Phase 2

Work on refurbishing existing and providing additional cycling facilities began on Monday 26 February 2019 and lasted for 4 weeks.
