Healthy cycle rides
Healthy cycle rides take place every Tuesday in Poole. The rides are currently postponed due to Coronavirus (COVID 19).
When the rides restart, the first Tuesday of the month will be in Poole park next to the cricket pavilion.
The ride usually starts at 10.15am and lasts for about 1 to 1½ hours. Bikes are available to borrow but they need to be booked in advance, as numbers are limited. If you are planning to join the Healthy Cycle ride and need to borrow a bike, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01202 262000.
You will need to print and complete the health questionnaire and bring it with you to give to the ride leader.
The remaining Tuesday rides of each month will start at Upton Country Park. If you wish to go on this ride please meet at the bus stop in the Upton Country Park main car park. Unfortunately it is not possible to borrow bikes for this ride.
The healthy cycle rides are aimed at people who want to improve their fitness and confidence cycling. The routes have been chosen to be easy for most people to cycle in 1 to 1½ hours and are mostly on flat, quiet roads and traffic free routes. They are led by experienced ride leaders. There is an opportunity for participants to socialise with the other group members during a café stop at the end of the ride.
The Poole Leisure Cycling Group meets on the first Saturday of the month during British Summer Time. Rides start from the Upton Country Park Tea Rooms courtyard (BH17 7BJ) at 2pm. The group ride around the bay with a refreshment stop at Hamworthy Park. There is a ride leader and back marker so nobody gets left behind. Everyone is welcome and there is no need to book.
Occasionally rides may also take place on the first Saturday of winter months. If you join the rides and give your email address to the organisers, then you will be informed if any winter rides will take place.
Breeze bike rides for women
Breeze rides are about bringing out the fun, friendly elements of cycling, and regularly involve a break for coffee and cake along the way. Whether you prefer a gentle pootle along the seafront, or a tough ride out into the forest, you are guaranteed to find something to suit you. Best of all, they are free to join.
