Site description
Hatch Pond nature reserve is in north Poole beside Stinsford Road and in the Nuffield Industrial Estate.
There are paths and benches around some of the site.
Apply for a fishing permit for this site.
Types of habitat
This is an ecologically diverse site and has:
- dry, humid and wet heath
- bog
- rough grassland
- formal grassland
- scrub and woodland plantation
- a large pond
What to see
It is a haven for wildlife with:
- a large pond
- heath
- grassland and woodland
These attract a variety of species including:
- the hoverfly
- the ivy bee
- the gadwall
Parking
There is very limited parking along Stinsford Road.
Dogs
Your dog must be on a short lead during bird breeding, 1 March to 31 July, or when livestock are near. Remember to keep dogs under close control and to pick up after them.
