Baiter Park toilet block development

We have been looking at ways to develop and enhance the services and facilities at Baiter Park including remodelling and modernising the existing toilet block to provide a new park café with sustainable public toilets.

Baiter (a public open space protected by a Fields in Trust designation) is a unique visitor destination offering spectacular views of Brownsea Island and Arne. With a large open space and frontage it is an ideal location to watch or join in the year round water sports. It also has on-site parking and good cycle and walking access to Poole Quay and Town Centre.

Benefits of the development

A permanent catering facility will benefit the whole community by attracting more groups and will provide a social environment. This will replace the existing mobile refreshment trailer in the park.

Planning

Planning permission to develop the public toilets has been granted and you can see all the documents at the planning portal using reference APP/17/01940/F.

Next Steps

Following a public consultation event in 2019, we are currently exploring a wider improvement plan for Baiter which includes reviewing whether the toilet block would be the right place for a café to be developed on this site.  While options are considered, we will delay making further progress to develop the existing toilet block.  In the meantime, minor refurbishment of the toilets are expected to take place during the Winter/Spring 2020/2021.

We will publish further information as the wider plan develops.
