Physical education sport

The purpose of the PESPA advisor is to:

  • offer advice and support to schools based on the Association for Physical Education (afPE) “safe practice in PE”. First line support to be provided by telephone, email, newsletter and web presence
  • additional support to be provided at cost to individual schools as required - to be invoiced to schools through Poole Children’s Services team administrator
  • keep up to date with changes to legislation in relation to the physical education, sport and physical activity advisor (PESPA) and provide timely updates for children’s services’ staff
  • provide an annual update event for all Poole schools at the schools conference in September 2015 

Key activities

Active Dorset will perform a number of activities:

  • officers will provide support and advice directly to schools as requested
  • depending on circumstances, advice and support may be verbal, written, access to web advice
  • advice will be included in meetings with primary schools in work associated with the primary sport premium
  • CPD training will be offered as appropriate (at additional cost to school) 

Borough of Poole will perform a number of activities:

  • Borough of Poole will provide Active Dorset with access to CPD Online in order to manage CPD activity
  • Borough of Poole will keep Active Dorset up to date with school statuses, academies etc. and contact details
