Local Development Scheme (LDS)

The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 as amended by the Localism Act 2011 requires the council to prepare and maintain a Local Development Scheme (LDS).

This is a 3 year rolling project plan for the preparation of planning policy documents. Planning policies determine where we live, work, shop, play, how we travel around our local area and what impact we have on the environment.

We have prepared an LDS that focuses specifically on the key milestones for the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Local Plan. As such, it provides the community and other interested parties with an indication of the stages of plan production, highlighting public consultation stages where interested parties can engage with the council.

The LDS came into effect on 23 September 2019 and covers the period to winter 2022.
