Throughout the process of preparing the Local Plan we want to engage with a wide range of local people, businesses and community groups to obtain the widest possible agreement on the development of planning policies and the allocation of sites to meet future identified development needs.
The resulting Plan needs to ensure that the sustainable development of the area can be achieved in a way that maintains and improves the health and well-being of local people and carefully balances the need for new homes, employment opportunities and other supporting development, with the protection of important heathland, harbour and coastal habitats, green spaces and unique heritage assets.
An important starting point for the new Plan is the identification of the issues that it will need to address.
Regulation 18 Issues and Call for Sites Consultation
A Regulation 18 Issues and Call for Sites consultation took place between 7 October - 18 November 2019.
Regulation 18 Issues consultation
A letter identifying a number of suggested issues aligned to the key priorities of the BCP Corporate Strategy, formed the basis of a public consultation on the issues the new Plan will address. Details of the consultation can be viewed on the consultation page.
A total of 316 responses were received. A table setting out the content of the responses, a comment summary and officer responses and an Appendix which identifies the comments relating to BCP Council Corporate Strategy priorities can be viewed in the documents below:
Call for Sites consultation
In addition, a Call for Sites was carried out where BCP Council invited those with an interest in promoting a development site to make it known for consideration.
This resulted in a total of 206 sites being promoted across BCP. Details regarding these sites are included in a table which can be viewed in the document below:
The promoted sites can be viewed on the interactive plan.
All those sites referred to as “promoted”, are sites suggested and put forward by landowners or developers. They have been submitted for assessment and consideration, and no decisions on them have been made at this stage.
Work is continuing on preparations for the next stage of the Local Plan.
If you wish to be kept informed of, or be involved with the progress of the new BCP Local Plan, please send your details to us at email@example.com quoting ‘BCP Local Plan Consultation Database’ in the subject box and we will add your details to our consultation database.
