What’s On in Poole Libraries this January

The latest edition of 'What’s On in Poole Libraries' is packed full of events and ideas to occupy adults, children and families during the winter months.

Available now from local libraries, 'What’s On In Poole Libraries' has details about events taking place between January and March 2016 and there may even be something to help keep a New Year's resolution!

Do you want to get online or discover social media? Or find out about volunteering or relax at one of our adult colouring classes? It’s all available at a library near you. If tracing your family is your new interest, join our ‘How to make sense of the Census’ session on Wednesday 20 January at Parkstone Library.

Thursday 21 January sees the launch of the Reading Hack, an exciting volunteering opportunity for young people to inspire others to get into reading. Our current volunteers have chosen their favourite books to get us started, so come along to the launch at 6:30pm at Poole Central Library and find out what an eclectic bunch they are.

Bestselling author Nicola Cornick joins us at Poole Central Library on Saturday 23 January at 2pm to discuss her latest novel, House of Shadows, a thrilling time slip novel which tells the story of the secret marriage of William Craven and Elizabeth, daughter of King James I.

We will also be celebrating the Costa Book Awards with displays and discussion events in Poole, Broadstone and Creekmoor Libraries, along with the chance to discuss last year's winning book, 'H is for Hawk', at Oakdale Library on 29 January.

Mark the start of National Storytelling Week with children’s author and illustrator Ella Burfoot for a fun reading and storytelling session based on her book Recipe for a Story. You can create your very own story at Creekmoor Library on Saturday 30 January at 10:30am and borrow a bundle of books to enjoy throughout the week.

Children can enjoy craft sessions, rhyme times and story times in all of our Libraries – bring them along and give them a head start for 2016.

All events can be booked by phoning 01202 262449 or emailinglibraries@poole.gov.uk. A copy of 'What’s On in Poole Libraries' can be downloaded from the website at www.poole.gov.uk/libraries.
