Borough of Poole’s Economic Development Team has been recognised for their outstanding support in developing young entrepreneurs to be successful in business.
The coveted Supporter of the Year award was presented by Young Enterprise (YE) at their South West Company of the Year event held at the RNLI in Poole, where 80 students from seven YE companies competed to win the South West Young Enterprise Company of the Year title and the right to represent the South West at the YE Company of the Year National Finals later this year.
The Supporter Award is presented to an organisation that makes a significant and continued contribution to students from across Dorset as they form fledgling businesses and learn what it takes to develop a product and bring it to market.
Cllr Janet Walton, Leader of the Council, Borough of Poole, said: “The Young Enterprise programme is an exciting way for young people to get their first taste of business. The skills and experience they learn during the process stands them in good stead for the future so I’m delighted that the passion, commitment and enthusiasm shown by our Economic Development team in developing young people has been recognised in this way.”
Maggie Ayre, Area Manager, Young Enterprise, Dorset, Devon & Cornwall commented: “Young Enterprise in Dorset are delighted by the ongoing support they receive from Borough of Poole across a variety of programmes. It is invaluable in delivering key enterprise and employability programmes to young people at local schools.”
