Maintenance work will be carried out on Poole’s Twin Sails Bridge from Tuesday 6 February for three nights and and two days.
The bridge will be closed to all traffic between 8pm and 4am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. During the day, the bridge will be open as normal, except for both cycle lanes which will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.
The work, including road surface and pothole repairs, is required in advance of the Twin Sails Bridge annual maintenance which is scheduled to take place in March.
John Rice, Engineering Manager, Borough of Poole, said: "The Twin Sails Bridge was in operation throughout the refurbishment of Poole Bridge and so didn’t get its annual maintenance last year. Some preparatory works are required now in advance of this year's planned closure which is programmed to start on 19 March.
“The work has been programmed to minimise disruption to road users, so we hope it will not cause too much inconvenience."
The Twin Sails Bridge will continue to lift on the current lifting schedule. Additional test lifts may be required but these will be outside of peak hours and only when necessary.
