Kate Ryan, Strategic Director for Place, Borough of Poole, said: “We have made positive progress in bringing forward the council’s £132 million vision to create a vibrant town centre. We are asking Council to approve the next stage to secure a development partner which is a key milestone for this project.
We are maximising the use of our own assets, such as Kingland Road car park, Seldown car park and the Dolphin pool site, to deliver regeneration in Poole. We’ve just concluded the public consultation on the future proposals for a new leisure centre and swimming pool and will make those findings available for Cabinet in April. We’ll be asking the public for further feedback on the proposals for Town Centre North later in the year.
Borough of Poole has, in principle, attracted £6 million through the Housing Infrastructure Fund to improve access to the town centre and, over the coming months, we will complete the due diligence process to fully secure these funds.
Members of the Place Overview and Scrutiny Committee will present their recommendations to Cabinet on 17 April and Council on 24 April 2018.
