New cashless payment service launches at Poole car parks

Drivers using their mobile phone to pay to park in car parks operated by Borough of Poole will need to register with a new service by the end of June. The council has improved the payment options available to motorists by switching provider.

JustPark have been running the service in council-owned car parks since 29 May 2018. The service had previously been provided by Phone and Pay so users of that service will now need to register their details with JustPark at

Car park users will still be able to use coins if they prefer, but anyone wishing to pay via mobile will have the convenience of being cash-free, and be able to extend their parking time remotely without going back to their vehicle. Mobile payments (via app, phone or SMS) will also be faster with the new provider compared to the previous.

Cllr Ian Potter, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Transportation, Planning and Regeneration, Borough of Poole, said: "This is about giving drivers a bigger, better choice of options and improving their parking experience. Using their mobile phone to pay means they don't need to worry about finding the right change for the car park machine, saving them time and hassle, and making their journey that bit easier.

“As parking time can also be extended using the JustPark mobile app or by text message, shoppers and visitors don't need to race back to the car before their ticket runs out, giving them more time to enjoy the shops and other attractions in Poole.”

Anthony Eskinazi, founder and CEO of JustPark, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Borough of Poole to make parking easy and stress-free for their residents and visitors, helping them to access and take advantage of the local area.

“Our payment system is built to be as user-friendly as possible, offering a quick and reliable alternative to cash; giving drivers more choice and providing a positive experience. We look forward to introducing its benefits to the people of Poole.”

JustPark won the contract to deliver the service over the next two years with an option to renew after this period. A nationwide provider of cashless parking, JustPark has more than 1.8 million users.

JustPark is also being rolled out to most car parks across Poole and Dorset so users will only need to register once to park in the area. Check the JustPark app or website to see which car parks are included:
