British Newspaper Archive
The British Newspaper Archive is a project to digitise up to 40 million pages from the British Library's vast collection of local newspapers over the next 10 years. It is only accessible from within the library.
Search millions of articles by keyword, name, location, date or title and watch your results appear in an instant.
To begin, just register with the site with your email address and password - once you have logged in, then you can carry out unlimited searches.
The first stage includes titles published before 1900 and will include titles from cities such as Birmingham, Derby, Manchester, Nottingham, Norwich, Leeds and York, along with local titles from London boroughs.
