A message from Kevin Jones
Head of Children and Young People's Social Care
Poole is a small south coast unitary authority and a town of contrasts with some areas of high social deprivation and a population profile which is changing and increasingly diverse.
We are proud of children’s social work in Poole and a culture in which a supportive and accessible senior management team champions individual professional responsibility and creative working. Together we are determined to inspire and support staff to deliver the highest quality services.
Poole children’s social care has a reputation for valuing and nurturing talent. We invest time, energy and resources to create services which really do make a difference for children, young people and their families.
Our Principal Social Worker and a well established Workforce Development Team lead a strong continuous professional development agenda including a comprehensive ASYE programme, post qualifying training and evidence informed practice learning. We maintain case loads at a level where social workers can build relationships with families and engage in meaningful direct work.
We have continued to invest in social work posts and improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people remains a top priority. We have recently created some innovative and forward thinking new services and approaches in Poole, including a ‘front door’ Children Services Hub, an Integrated Family Support Service and a ‘strengthening families’ model in child protection work. Amidst change and transformation, however, we recognise, value and hold onto ‘what works and what matters’ and do this by listening carefully to our workforce and the children and families we work with.
Discretionary relocation expenses are available up to £8,000.
