Our managing other peoples money service provides help to those unable to look after their own finances.
We only offer this service when other options, such as having a family member, friend, solicitor, accountant or specialist company to manage an individuals money, have been explored but found not to be suitable.
The services costs money and time to operate during a period when we are receiving less government funding and need to make £23 million pounds of savings between 2017 and 2020. Meanwhile, the demand and cost for this service, and others, is rising.
By introducing a charge, we hope that a significant enough contribution to the cost of the service will be raised.

We asked people who may be affected by the proposed changes to the managing other peoples money service to give their views on the proposals and tell us how any changes may affect them. The consultation ran from 24 July to 4 September 2017.
If respondents were not service users, they could still take part if they were:
- a carer
- a family member
- a friend
- a business or organisation
- somebody else
We asked respondents to read the information document before responding and then complete a questionnaire.
The consultation closed on 4 September 2017.

Once we have analysed the consultation feedback, we will present the results to the People Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 16 October 2017, followed by Cabinet on 31 October 2017, with a view to introducing any changes in early 2018.
