Have your say on Fairer Contributions and Charging Policy residents consultation

The council is considering making changes to the way in which we ask adults of all ages to:

  • contribute towards the cost of their non-residential care
  • pay a charge towards the cost of meals and refreshments in day centres

Have your say

We wanted to hear your views on proposed changes to the Fairer Contributions and Charging Policy.

Detailed information about the changes proposed are in the leaflet on the right of the page. The consultation ended on Friday 31 October 2014.

The consultation has been mailed to 2,500 households selected at random in Poole.

Once consultation feedback has been analysed, the results will be presented to the Health and Social Care Overview Committee in January 2015, prior to elected members making further decisions about the policy, and with a view to introducing any changes to the service from April 2015. The results will be published here on the council's website when they are available.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Why we're proposing to make changes to the policy

The council only has limited funds, and therefore has to make the best use of the resources we have. We can then continue to safeguard the most vulnerable members of the community. Also, the policies we are proposing to change have not been changed for some time. The proposals outlined here would impact on those who have care commissioned by the Borough of Poole, as well as those who receive a Direct Payment. They will also impact on service users who attend day centres.

What will not change?

Adult Social Services is not withdrawing any current services. The proposals are about making changes to the ways in which we financially assess people. However this will remain in line with Government guidelines which ensure that no one will be expected to pay more than they can reasonably afford.
