During 2013 the council undertook a review of public engagement. This involved looking at good practice within the borough and elsewhere, a survey of residents (Involving People Survey) and a community event to hear and discuss the views of residents associations and community groups.
The findings of the review were reported to Cabinet on 29 April 2014 and a number of actions agreed to improve community engagement. The full report is available for download.
The council has formally adopted a set of consultation principles and will continue to engage with the public in a range of different ways.
