Digital portraits of the people of Poole

We have worked with Bournemouth and Poole students, doing a BTEC extended in art and design, to create the digital portraits of the people of Poole photo library, which showcases the diverse range of the people living and working in our town.

The people and places

The aim was to create a professional looking photo library of the people and places we would all recognise as Poole. The students worked incredibly hard, attending numerous community events in the evening and at weekends; whether it was Poole Forum's AGM, Eid, Diwali and Chanukah celebrations, Remembrance Sunday in Poole Park, to fireworks night and the lantern parade on Poole Quay.

They also took pictures of people using council services, borough employees and family members, those they know and love, and strangers in Poole's familiar landscapes.

We now have an incredible bank of photos that will be used in a wide range of our publicity materials, from the website, social media and Poole News, to leaflets and brochures about our specific services.

The legacy

The Dolphin Shopping Centre and Marks and Spencers kindly supported the accompanying launch of a 5 day exhibition of the photos, hosted in Poole's former Early Learning Centre in February 2014.
